Magnificent Buildings of Paris

Paris is truly a beautiful city.  It never ceases to amaze me.  Just when you start getting blase about the whole thing; riding the Metro and buses, buying groceries, you know being busy with this thing called Life, it hits me again and I am struck by the elegant buildings and the incredible lights I see everywhere.

Its true when they say Paris is most beautiful at sunset.   "Life ...

Breakfast in America- The Best Part of Waking Up

After a year of living in Paris I finally broke down and went into a Starbucks for a Frappucino on a hot summer’s day. Sipping my Venti frosted beverage in the searing August sun I realized that it wasn’t necessary to eschew my American ways in order to integrate into a Parisian lifestyle. It is in the spirit that I recommend Breakfast in America (two locations: 17 rue des Ecoles ...

fashion iqons.....out in force

The weather was bitterly cold as I expected and on my way I chanced upon some homeless people all huddled together.

My destin ation was a club I had never been to, but had heard about. Imagine a line of mostly fashion people all vying to get into a night club, all this at the discretion of the bouncers. As the line attends patiently, the talk among an international crowd, seems ...

a week ago, this was me

A week ago and I was on a large stage, performing as 22 Code X, for a Vj festival. It was stressful and not without incident. Other groups/projects included a duo, called Vj Meat, whose images were as in the name most.... disgusting. Mind you I am vegetarian. It was an international festival. I met an American, who lives in Turkey, who hopefully might give us a gig out there.

This ...

This is me, this is my life in PARIS....

So this is me,  Francis Powell, sometimes known as DJ Wise ,  an artist, writer, poet and musician, amongst other things, living in the ninth district of what is at the moment, a freezing Paris. Just one week ago, it was mild, as if winter was not happening at all this year. In the course of a short period of time, all changed. I have been here for about eight years ...

The Gare Montparnasse is the gateway for travelers headed from and to Bretagne- a region known for its crêpes, cider, and calvados. Ready to serve new arrivals, this area is mostly populated by bars and restaurants proposing typical Bretagne fare. Located amidst the créperies is Au Tournesol (9  rue de la Gaîté m°Edgar Quinet). Situated on a street that is inhabited mostly by sex shops, strip clubs, and theaters, this ...

Paris- The luxury capital of the world

It was exhilarating to sit and watch beautifully coiffured women stroll the boulevards around the Musee du Louvre, their heels clicking, ostrich leather totes clasped on their arms. Paris is truly the very essence of luxury. It combines history, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design across haute couture, wines, crystal, porcelain, gastronomy and perfume in a potent cocktail.
Why is it that Paris and France house the world’s most luxurious ...

Paris - A City Like No Other!

Paris is truly a City like no other.  It offers something for everyone from toddlers to great-granny and everyone in between.  New York has its towering skyscrapers, London its quaint Brick townhomes and Venice has its romantic waterways but Paris is well - simply beautiful!  Its bustles during the day and literally sparkles at night.   The buildings scale and design are superb, everything flows.  Yes, the streets can be a tangled maze - ...
