Angel of the North
I find that other London travel guides tend to miss out on the really good stuff. They focus on the obvious Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Royal Albert Hall, London Eye, some areas can very easily get missed.
North London is very trendy, thus making it popular with hip young professionals and has all the entertainment to compensate their appetite for socialising and partying, especially being home to the infamous Fabric nightclub. Filled to the brim with bars, cafe's and restaurants - you will be spoilt for choice. Angel, an area in Islington, is a socialites dream with endless streams of shops, mainly high street brands but there are a few little boutiques hidden in the nooks of the back streets, and a variety of restaurants serving a wide range of cuisine for what ever takes your fancy. Upper street is the main high street running through Angel and also where you can find an abundance of restaurants and cafe's, snaking their way up the street. I was dining with some friends the other night, and after much deliberation over where to eat (Indian, Thai, Spanish) we finally decided upon this little Noodle Bar called Miso (67 Upper Street London N1 0NY ). I can highly recommend it for a cheap eat, even though the service isn't much to write home about the quality of the food and the amount on the bill definitely make up for it, roughly £15 a head.
This area is also very theatrical, with all sorts of theatres (The Almeida, The Kings Head, The Little Angel ) and Performing Art centres (Sadlers Wells) there is always something going on. Performance's can vary from classic Shakespeare to more contemporary and alternative theatre. Tickets and current performances can be found at www.theatre.com
Angel never ceases to amaze or surprise you, absolutely worth a visit without a doubt.
How to get there: Angel is a underground station on the Northern Line (black)
