A little slice of Mexico
One of those gripes people always seem to have about London is its lack of truly good Mexican food. I've followed recommendation after recommendation only to be left angry and bitter at the end of the evening.
And then I found Crazy Homies.
It was a pure accident really. Wandering the streets of Westbourne Grove in search of Taqueria - another Mexican, whichI'd been advised to try, but later found sadly lacking - and stumbled across this little slice of Day of the Dead heaven.
Decorated with lurid skulls and bright murals, serving only tequila and always short of tables, you will without a doubt have to queue to get in here (reservations are only taken for downstairs and then only on specific nights). But it will be worth it. The cocktails are wonderful ( i recommend the tequila mojito - something which shouldn't exist, but you'll be glad it does).
You must try the baja shrimp salad, goat's cheese, spinach and potato enchilada and the salsas flavoured with a dash of cinammon. yum. Don't expect much on the wine front - there's just one white and one red and they may not correspond with what's on the menu depending the night - but the food and beer are the real attractions.
And with Lucky 7 and the Cow on either side, you'll find yourself on a little stretch of culinary heaven. Plus some fridays downstairs gets djed up and then the cocktails really begin to flow.
