Men Hate Women
I love to watch free movies. I watched two in blurry bits and pieces last weekend over there on YouTube. One was "The Secret Window" and the other legendary film being "The Shawshank Redemption." Both were worth the watch, but it would have been much more enjoyable viewing them on the big screen. The Secret Window was so good that I even watched most of it with the volume turned down, but that's only because Johnny Depp was playing the lead.
If you're in Copenhagen this weekend and looking to watch some quality movies at a quality price - as in nothing, notta, free - then this is the last weekend that you can take advantage of the free films that are being offered by Zulu Sommerbio 2009. Last year, there were over 100,000 guests who wandered in and staggered out of film venues. I guess they overdosed on popcorn and pop.
"Maend der hader kvinder," aka Men who Hate Women is playing on Saturday and is produced by Nordisk Films, and directed by Danish director Niels Arden. As you probably guessed by the title, the Swedish language movie isn't a film for the entire family, but has been touted as a combination thriller-romance. The nuts and the bolts of this thriller revolves around finance journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who is hired to write wealthy Henrik Vanger's family story, and at the same time solve the mystery of his neice's mysterious disappearance.
The film, which isn't for the faint of heart has been receiving rave reviews, which emcompass such words as well-crafted, thought provoking and captivating. The lead role of a computer hacker played by Noomi Rapace, has been receiving her own accolades for her amazing acting ability.
Publikumsfavoritten, or the Public's favourite movie will be shown on Sunday. It will be a bit of a surprise but a good one, as it will be the film that througout the summer has received the most votes on www.zulu.tv2.dk
