Steve Piticco in Denmark
Before it slips my sieve of a mind, I must mention that Denmark will once again be blessed with the presence of world-renowned guitar picker, Steve Piticco. Steve, who was originally from Toronto and now resides in south-eastern Ontario, happens to be one fantastic guitar player. He has won myriads of awards, but more than that, he's a kind, generous and caring person. Can you tell I'm a huge fan?
You see, I can vouch that this man is an A-plus human being from first-hand experience. So much so, that I doubt he'd even want me to write this, as he's not the type to toot his own horn. In other words, he must eat a lot of humble pie. Many people do a lot of talking and little walking when it comes to charity and good deeds, but not Steve. He walks the walk.
I didn't know a lot about him, before a few months ago, but my Dad talked about how talented he was, always. So much so, that I grew weary of hearing about it. "Yes, father when he plays in Denmark, I'll make an effort to see him perform."
In fact, when my father was terminally ill, Steve Piticco and his wonderful, singer wife - despite their hectic schedules, didn't think twice about dropping everything and coming out to visit my Dad. Even though, they barely knew him. By the way, my parents don't just live around the block either, so it was really out of their way.
As said, besides the fact that Steve is a nice person, he's also very talented. His style is country-bluegrass. He has won Canadian Country Music Association awards and was recently inducted into the OVCM Hall of Fame. He's been a studio musician in Nashville and has played with some pretty well-known country legends like Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard. His band ‘South Mountain' are no slouches either as they have won ‘International Band of the Year' in Europe.
Steve and ‘South Mountain' are currently touring Europe, and will be playing in Denmark on June 27th at 19:00 p.m. at one of the festivals. I haven't got all the gory details so stop back for more specifics or visit www.myspace.com/stevepiticco.
