The Copenhagen Carnival
I just found out that I have the entire month of July free and as far as I can see, I'll be spending most of it in Ontario. Next week, I'm going to Toronto to watch the Blue Jays play. No, I'm not driving the truck, but rather have chosen the ease and comfort of the train. Hmm...that's kind of what I miss about Copenhagen right now, riding about in the train.
By the way, if you are in Copenhagen you might want to experience the Pinsekarneval, aka the Copenhagen Carnival. It started the 29th of May and carries on until the 31st. A whole range of carnival groups from other countries are participating as well as a variety of musical names. The genres of music will include, samba, salsa, African music etc. There was also be show bands and children's music. Jugglers, clowns and dancers, as well as theatre groups will also be in attendance.
Over the last few years over 100,000 people have been in attendance, mostly from Copenhagen, but also from other corners of the earth. There will be 80 carnival groups in total over the entire 3 days. The afternoon parade takes place tomorrow, the 31st of May at 20:00 in Faelledparken. For the official program and schedule, please visit The Copenhagen Carnival's official website. It all happens at:
