Dalai Lama in Copenhagen

Dalia Lama

Tibet's Dalai Lama will be landing in Denmark at the end of this month. He'll be giving lectures on the 30th and 31st of May. The speeches will be on "Mindfulness Based On Love And Compassion" and "Peace through inner Peace." How cool is that? These lectures seem like something I could really use right now, too bad I won't be there at that time...rats.

Instead, I am planning on finding my "inner peace" by planning a little escape to eastern Canada perhaps, by way of Via Rail. That's right, I'm just going to grab a coffee, hop on a train and go. I kind of believe in signs, and everyone I run into these days sings the praises of New Brunswick, so maybe that's the ticket. Let me know if you've been there and what you think of it, because I'm just going there on a wing and a prayer. Otherwise, I might just take a day trip to Toronto and catch a Blue Jays game, but only if I get good seats and they're on a winning streak because I'm not paying $62.00 for them to stink...Well, I'll just have to decide and pronto.

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, oh yes, the Dali Lama. By the way, did I tell you I knew a fellow who was a former monk? I've kind of lost track of him, but he was a great guy, a real calming presence. That's why I find this whole Daili Lama thing kind of interesting, even though I didn't really know a lot about Daili Lama himself. Other than that he'd hoped that Tibet would become a peaceful sanctuary in the heart of Asia, where all beings can exist in harmony.

If you wish to learn a bit more about the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetans before his visit you might want to check out the Tibet Film Festival at the Grand Theatre and Cinemateket.
