Run with the Royals

I was just reading an inspirational, Forrest Gump type story about a woman who ran around the world for cancer. She lost her husband last year to prostate cancer. This inspired her to circle the earth raising funds for the deadly disease.

As I mentioned earlier, our family recently lost our father to cancer, pancreatic cancer to be specific. We chose to take care of him at home, which was a heart wrenching experience to say the least. Watching him deteriorate every week took a toll on us physically and emotionally.

I think that the death of a loved one really makes you realize that we're all here on this planet earth for a good time, not a long time. I guess, it also gives us a chance to reevaluate our lives and assess if we're really doing what we were meant to be doing.

Although, I doubt anyone in our family will run around the world, I'd suspect we'll take baby steps by taking a leisurely Via Rail tour out to Eastern or Western Canada, as that would be an adventure in itself. Besides that we could run or power walk once we arrive or better yet hail a taxi.

Anyhow, if you are feeling inspired by the running vibe, like the ambitious woman mentioned earlier, then you might want to watch 10,000 runners run 42,195 km, around Copenhagen today, Sunday the 24th of May.

Denmark's own Crown Prince Frederik will visit this Copenhagen Marathon in the starting area in Vester Voldgade. After a short, motivational speech at 9:30 a.m. the Crown Prince will fire the starting signal.
