Jack be "Nimb" Xmas Lunch
On Friday I will be attending a traditional Scandinavian julefrokost (Christmas lunch) in Copenhagen, put on by the Swedish company I work for from time to time when I'm not working with the kids. I guess you could call me a jack of all trades, master of some.
Anyhow, I am really looking forward to this little get together, as it seems it's been all work and no play as of late. Hopefully, the festivities will come complete with the traditional Nordic drink known as "gløgg," as I have been having a craving for it lately - that and chocolate, you know all the healthy, sugary stuff.
For those of us who don't know, gløgg is a warm drink made from a mix of red wine, dried orange zest, almonds, raisins, brandy and cinnamon sticks. This concoction is blended all together and then left to stew for a few hours, and then walah, it is ready for your drinking pleasure. For me, this popular drink always seems to hit the spot this time of year, even more than hot chocolate. I am really looking forward to it, as well as the traditional Danish/Swedish meal that will hopefully come with.
If you happen to be in the Copenhagen area and would like to be a part of a Christmas lunch, there is frankly no better place to head to than Tivoli to absorb the tastes, visual pleasures and feelings of the season. The family restaurant called "Nimb," located inside of Tivoli Garden's gates is decked out Las Vegas style with plenty of colourful lights, but inside you'll experience traditional Danish meals.
The traditional Scandinavian julefrokost is available until the 30th of December and costs 375 Dkr. Included are grilled salmon, potatoes, green cabbage, orange glazed duck breast etc. Dessert could be cold rice pudding served with cherries. Remember to reserve a table ahead of time.
