Night Music Gallery
I love the Christmas season at the moment, perhaps because I'm receiving little gifts in the mail. I just received a CD with international music on it for my listening pleasure. I won't go into much detail about it because I haven't listened to it yet. I often receive requests to write about this, that or the other thing. I ignore most of them unless they tweak my interest because to be honest, I can't do them justice if I am not inspired or at the very least interested. I couldn't write anything decent about motorcycles for example, that would be a horrible piece.
Anyhow, speaking of music if you happen to be in Copenhagen tonight now's your chance to enjoy some musical talent on the house. At the Statens Museum for Kunst (Danish National Gallery), tonight is an evening where a kaleidoscope of various art forms and music collide. This is the third time this event has taken place because it has been a resounding success over the past two years.
Among the performers slated to perform is the Argentinian/Swedish performer Jose Gonzales as well as Catbird and Asle Bjørn with Ingelina. In between performances there will be lounge music by Stella Polaris Soundsystem. American readers as well as international ones may recognize Jose Gonzalez's mellow, acoustic sound from a popular Sony TV commercial where 150,000 colourful balls bounced about on San Francisco's streets.
It all starts today November 22ndat 19:00 p.m. and runs until midnight. At the same time there is free admittance to the museum's art exhibits. But it doesn't stop there as there is an after party with music from Stella Polaris Sound System at Kødboderne 18 after the event at the museum is finished. Entrance is also free to said after party, if you bring a "flyer" that is given out at the museum. Otherwise the cost of admission is 50 Dkr.
