Seduced by the Sadies
It looks like while I was away on vacation, some very talented Canadian musicians from my former hood were creating a bit of a buzz in Copenhagen. You see, the Toronto based country-rock band known as the "Sadies" played at Christiania, in Copenhagen on Sunday the 4th of May. Apparently, there were only 50 people there to enjoy the event but that didn't stop this talented quartet from playing like there were 50,000 in attendance.
One of Denmark's leading newspapers, BT.dk wrote a raving review about them, with a headline that started off with "kanon canadisk country," which loosely translated means excellent, Canadian country. Among other glowing remarks, BT said that they should play at Christiania every Sunday and called it one of the best performances of the year. The energetic concert cost only 80 Dkr for a "near phenomenal" concert as BT put it.
The band's members are guitar playing brothers Dallas and Travis Good - relatives of the legendary Canadian musicians known as the "Good Brothers." Mike Belitsky plays drums while Sean Dean plays bass. The Sadies are a band who are unapologetic for stretching, twisting and turning traditional music into something they call their own.
