Fashion Festival Fever

Until now, I've mainly mentioned the music only festivals happening in Denmark but there are other types as well, too many to mention. If you are lucky enough to be in Copenhagen this weekend and the weather gods keep blessing us as they have, then you won't want to miss the "Bæredygtig Festival," which roughly translated means "to bear fruit" or "long lasting."

The Butik Fisk (a used clothing boutique) is ...

Trashing Roskilde Festival?

Roskilde Festival or The Local DumpGive a hoot and don't pollute because the owl's everywhere. That was a great anti-littering campaign if you can remember that. It's still ringing in my ears many years on. You see, as a kid we thought nothing of occasionally tossing trash out onto the streets or out of the car window for that matter. That ...

A Royal Wedding

Today, my plan was to work and do not much else, but there is a royal wedding in the works. I wasn't even going to watch it, to be honest. It's the second marriage for the Danish Prince Joachim and the first marriage for the French Marie Cavalier. I didn't have much interest in watching it, because I didn't know much about this lovely lady Marie, but they are running a program on DR 1 ...

Seduced by the Sadies

It looks like while I was away on vacation, some very talented Canadian musicians from my former hood were creating a bit of a buzz in Copenhagen. You see, the Toronto based country-rock band known as the "Sadies" played at Christiania, in Copenhagen on Sunday the 4th of May. Apparently, there were only 50 people there to enjoy the event but that didn't stop this talented quartet from playing like ...

Help for Myanmar?

As I mentioned many times before, we visited Phuket, Thailand a few weeks ago. On the way there, the flight was re-routed because of a tropical cyclone in our path. That was on Tuesday the 29th of April. On the immediate Friday after, that being the 3rd of May we received word that a devastating cyclone had hit the nearby country of Myanmar (Burma), approximately 280 km north of us, ...

Belly Dancing at Ankara

The other night I attended a little party in Copenhagen with some co-workers. It was a little awkward for reasons I will not get into here but we all made the best of it. I'll just put it this way, I've decided that if one is not driving his or her own vehicle and just cruising along as a passenger, then one can't be shocked or disappointed by unforeseen events, ...

The Green Green Grass of Home

Well, we returned home on Tuesday from our trip to Phuket, Thailand. As expected, it was a pretty awful flight. As I mentioned in an earlier blog we were all crammed into a small plane with little space to move. Not acceptable, as far as I'm concerned for such a long flight as the result is irritated customers and a lightning rod for flaring tempers.

To add insult to injury, as ...

Greetings from Phuket

This will be a quick blog as I'm running out of internet time. It seems to me that our vacation in Phuket, Thailand has just zoomed by. Time flies when you're having fun, I guess. We've not had as much luck with the weather as we did last year. It has been sunny an average of two hours a day and some days it has rained the entire time. I can't ...

Torment in the Sky

We arrived here in lovely Thailand yesterday and I can honestly say, that this was the worst flight I've ever been on. Yes, even worse than the time when we had to crash land in Finland.

In restrospect, that tour is looking more and more pleasant in comparison to this one on TUI Airways. For the first, this flight was two hours late in taking off. Then, once we were airbound, ...
