Denmark loves Willie Nelson
I went for a drive with my mother-in-law the other day. We were talking about the talented musicians who will be blessing Denmark with their presence over the next few months. I blogged about this earlier, but I said, "I'd beg, borrow, cheat and steal to be able to see the legendary Country singer Willie Nelson live, but won't be in the country while he's here."
We'll be in Thailand. Perhaps, Willie will be in need of some surf and sand after his Denmark stint and will make a pit stop in Phuket? After all, he did help put on a concert to support the victims of the 2004 Tsunami, so it just makes sense that he pay them a visit. Willie if you are listening, I think you should seriously consider that. Anyhow, I kind of doubt for the first that he's reading this and for the second that a Thailand tour is slated on his upcoming, busy schedule, but as Kenny Nolan used to sing, "I like dreamin', cause dreamin' can make you mine, closing my eyes and feelin' fine," or something like that.
Mr. Nelson gave his first performance on Danish soil way over in Esbjerg earlier this week and received radiant reviews. The reviewers were impressed with his sincerity and relaxed, personable style. As per usual there weren't a lot of bells and whistles, like backup dancers, flying trapeze artists, lazer lights and all that distracting stuff, just simple, clean, from the heart music. Willie performed 34 songs over 100 minutes and sang such classics as Funny How Time Slips Away, Crazy and Night Life.
If you are curious about Willie's attire, apparently, he started the gig by wearing his classic cowboy hat, followed by his characteristic bandana. He's such a trendsetter, now everyone will be walking around Denmark wearing a cowboy hat or bandana, I'm sure.
Anyhow, it looks like tickets are still available for his concert in Copenhagen on Tuesday April 29th starting at 20:00 p.m.
