Willie Nelson in Copenhagen
Well, we're throwing a little party today, a belated birthday bash if you will, and I'm expecting the moon and the stars in the form of gifts. No, that's not true, I'm only hoping for one, a new camera. We'll see if the powers that be decide if I've been naughty or nice, otherwise I'll just use my older, tried but true camera for the trip to Thailand, which is coming up soon!
This much anticipated trip is good news for the most part, apart from the fact that I've just found out that the legendary American singer-songwriter Willie Nelson will be in town while I'm away. Willie, who is synonymous with country music, will be performing in Copenhagen. This Grammy award winning, country crooner's latest album is called "Moment of Forever." If you don't know it already, Willie has performed with everyone who is anyone in the musical world, including Julio Iglesios, U2 and Johnny Cash.
Although, I'm not a huge fan of all country music, I've always adored Willie Nelson. Perhaps one of the reasons is because of his honest, rebel with a cause attitude. Agree with him or not, he's made no secret of his advocacy of the use of cannabis, and subsequent, related arrests. He's also had other run-ins with the law, regarding back tax issues, but hey haven't we all.
Willie the "socially good," however has also been an active participant in farm aid concerts to help the farmers get on their feet. He's also voiced his concern with the environment, by being actively involved in the building of two bio-diesel plants which produce vegetable oils to be used in diesel engines. He also headlined an all-star concert in 2005 which benefited the victims of the 2004 Tsunami.
