Easter Sell Out
I started the ball rolling with my passport renewal yesterday by getting some new photos done. I still have a collection of rejects from the last time I tried to renew my passport. It makes me think of that 1994 comedy called Clifford where he says, "Don't reject me..."
Anyhow, passport renewal time is a bit of a pain for all parties involved including the photographer. People with a Danish passport can get it done lickity split, no fuss, no muss, as the specific format for their photos is pre-programmed into the computer. My Canadian passport had to take some adjusting and even then, who knows if they will be accepted by the powers that be...that being the passport office. I told the photographer that I'm not allowed to smile in this passport photo, so now the final product looks like I'm off to prison. I have to put a hustle on this passport thingy as it looks like we are heading off to Thailand or Vietnam in May.
I heard that there has been loads of snow back home in Prince Edward County, Ontario. There's not a drop of snow here and it's quite mild, just a little rainy. Other than that, everyone here is just getting prepared for Easter. Many Europeans like to get away in Easter and Danes are no different, as evidenced by the fact that all of the pre-arranged vacations for that time period are sold out.
Apparently, there are fewer to choose from this year because Easter comes early, which means many of the preferred destination's hotels haven't even opened for business as of yet. That makes slim pickings for preferred vacation destinations. According to ekstrabladet.dk 20,000 Danes will get away on vacation this year over Easter. That is 2,000 less than last year.
