Siemens Spin Cycle

Warning, today's blog has not much to do with Copenhagen, yet again. Although, it is looking out to be an exciting weekend here, with the Danish Music Awards and the Oscars all being televised in the same weekend. I'll be more on-topic next time and perhaps even comment on the fires and clashes that have been consuming the country. Today, however I'd rather stick to a light subject that doesn't require too much brain power and won't raise my blood pressure.

You know, I like 99.9999% of the human population "was" the proud owner of a mobile phone. "Was" is the operative word in that sentence, as I had the same Siemens phone for five years. It didn't have all the bells and whistles that today's phones have, but it did the job and I was happy with it. I'm not one to require all the extras that are on most phones, but I like it to work and the batteries not to die out when I need it most.

It just has to be capable of sending the odd sms here and there and make and receive the odd phone call. Anyhow, if I'm at home I just carry it around in my pants pocket because I may get a call from my employer at the last minute, because they might need me to work a.s.a.p.  A convenient place for it I thought, because it's always there when I need it, but not the best idea when you are tired and in a drugged out daze. I take that back, there were no drugs involved just my drug of choice, "coffee." The day of the telephone tragedy, I woke up late, tired, completely out of it and wanted to wash some clothes.

So, I threw the colours only lot into our new, state of the art washing machine and let the good times roll. Approximately fifteen minutes into the cycle, I pawed into my pocket and thought, where is my phone? I even tried to call it from the regular phone but no luck. Oh no, Mr. Bill I threw it into the washing machine with the dirty clothes. When I finally retrieved it the buttons were falling off and it was soaking wet and basically didn't work. Five days on and it still is missing in action, dead, finished, doesn't work. I doubt Siemens guarantees stupidity so I think this phone has made its last phone call.

So, my husband was feeling kind hearted that day and took the memory chip out of my washed up phone and installed it into his handy down phone that he no longer used. There are so many buttons on this phone that I don't know where to start. I've already accidentally trashed one message, by clicking on the wrong button. It was some weirdo making strange noises on the other end. Took me a few minutes to realize that strange person was me, from the other day, bizarre.
