Aragorn Spotted at Christiania
Well, that was a few months ago, back in the summertime. Old news is also "good news" or is that old news is "no news?" I'll let you decide. Reportedly,Viggo Mortensen visited Freetown Christiania with his son this past summer. Apparently, he wanted to show his 19 year old son all the good and unique things that are Christiania because it was a place Viggo himself frequented when he lived here in the 70's.
Christiania, if you do not know already, is a partially self-governing neighborhood of about 850 residents located in Copenhagen. Rumour has it that Viggo visits Denmark at least three times a year to visit friends and family, for art exhibits and other artsy type things. I haven't seen him yet though, but I'll let you know if I don't collapse out of sheer shock and live to tell the tale.
Speaking of Christiania, if you are in Copenhagen and looking for a nice alternative to the busy, conventional shopping centers, you might want to pay a visit to the Christmas Market. Every year around Christmas time the Grey Hall (Den Grå Hal) is converted into a Christmas Market. Located in Christiania and built in 1891, Den Grå Hal has a long tradition in for concerts, theatre performances, speeches and Christmas parties. During the Christmas Market there are 100 booths set up as well as music, fun designs and arts and crafts. Danish Christmas cake and glogg (a warm and tasty mixture of almonds, raisins, cinnamon, red wine etc.) is served.
It all happens here at: Den Grå Hal in the Town of Christiania, Bådsmandsstræde 43,
1407 København K
Open everyday 14.00 to 20.00. The last day is tomorrow, Thursday December 20th and it closes at 18.00 p.m.
