Vikaren's Scary Toronto Premiere
A while back I talked about a nationally acclaimed Danish horror film by Ole Bornedal called "Vikaren." The long and short of it is that it is about a substitute teacher that is cruel to the students but convinces the parents that she is as sweet as pie. The children complain about her but no one believes them.
Apparently, this film was recently shown at the Toronto Film Festival. The kids who were in the audience were scared to death by Paprika Steen's convincing portayal of a somewhat loony tunes teacher . Some of the children and adults were so upset they just left the theatre. Some, when they saw Paprika Steen - who plays the role of the mean teacher - were scared to death of her when they saw her in person after the film.
According to ekstrabladet.dk Paprika talked to a little boy after the film, telling him that she has a son of his age but the little guy wanted nothing to do with her and hid behind his mom when he caught sight of her. So, if you want to see what the fuss is all about go to http://www.vikaren.com/. The film also stars Jonas Wandschneider and Ulrich Thomsen.
