Let the Sun Shine In

The summer is coming to an end and I can finally say it. This has been the worst summer for rain I have ever experienced while living over here. Every time I turned around it seemed, it was raining, pouring, the old man was snoring. That's not to say that there weren't blue skies sometimes, there were but they turned grey a little more often than I care to mention.

It's ...

Wondering about Wagamama

I was slated to help out on a much anticipated, upcoming TV show last night but the outside scene I was to participate in had to be cancelled for some reason. It could have had something to do with the rainy weather or maybe they just felt the scene wasn't necessary for the story line. Anyhow, I didn't ask and things happen for a reason I suppose. It was just as ...

Ecco Walkathon 2007

If you happen to be in Copenhagen today and are full of energy but are not sure how to use it, how about taking a long walk in support of a good cause? For every kilometre you walk, Ecco  shoes will donate 5 Dkr to either the Heart Association, WWF or Street Kids International. You decide which organisation your money will go to.

It all starts at 9:30 a.m. today (Sunday) ...

Happy Birthday to you

Denmark's most abused, viewed, famous and loved little lady is celebrating a little something special today. The Little Mermaid is 94 years young today and the happy occasion will be celebrated with a brass band, story telling, balloons and a whole lot of people from every corner of the country diving into the refreshing, albeit cold water.  It's the fifth year in a row that "Wonderful Copenhagen" has recognized the ...

Butt Out

Since the 15th of August smoking has been prohibited at restaurants, cafes and bars in Denmark. As a non-smoker, the new rule suits me fine because I literally get physically ill when I'm exposed to cigarette smoke. The symptoms include, but are not limited to sore throat, headache, runny eyes etc. Call it a weak immune system or whatever, I just can't take it.

However, some people can take it and enjoy a ...

Swan Song for Unkle Bob

I used to watch the weekly late night comedy show "Saturday Night Live" lots when I lived back in Canada. I really miss that show; I'm not sure why it's not shown over here. Anyhow, back in those days, comedian Mike Meyers would play a Scottish character from time to time whose signature saying was "If it's not Scottish it's crap!" These days I'm starting to believe that saying. It ...

Copenhagen Fashion Week

Two glamorous times a year, in February and August the fashion gods meet and greet in Copenhagen for Europe’s largest fashion event, “Copenhagen Fashion Week." It's that time of the year again and this week, August 8th to the 12th, they are showing off the spring and summer collection for 2008. No need to go to Milan, Paris, London or New York when you can find the same calibre of fashion ...

Baltic Sail(s) Off Into the Sunset

Concordia North of Copenhagen lies the historic city of Helsingør and from the 17th to the 19th of August it is the scenic location for the annual Baltic Sail arrangement for the 11th year running. The Baltic Sail arrangement is a gathering point, if you will of a variety of beautiful ships from around the world. It's a glorious display that has been an integral part ...

Copenhagen’s Cultural Harbour Festival 2007

What is happening in Copenhagen this weekend you ask? Or not? I’m not sure what you’re asking as I can’t hear or see you but I’ll tell you anyhow. One thing I do know for sure is it’s not raining cats and dogs and that is a good thing. I’m sure most will agree we’ve had enough of that foolishness for one year.

Over the past six years Copenhagen's Cultural Harbour Festival has offered ...

Copenhagen's Culture Box

If you are looking for some excitement tonight in the heart of Copenhagen check out the reopening party of the techno club Culture Box . After spending the month of July under renovation this popular club is opening its doors once again.

There are myriads of international acts slated to perform later this year, as well. The club is roomy and can hold up to 275 guests. The style is funky ...
