Cecilie Flew over the Cookoo's Nest in Copenhagen
Most movie goers love a psychological thriller. If you happen to be in Copenhagen and are interested in taking in a Danish film which showcases some of Denmark's best talent, why not catch the new thriller "Cecilie." I've not seen it myself but plan to. It looks blood curdling and stars Denmark's own lovely and talented Sonja Richter. Sonja plays the starring role Cecilie and her husband Mads is played by Claus Riis Østergaard. The storyline goes a little something like this.
Cecilie and her husband have just moved into a house to start anew because Cecilie had been battling an ongoing illness over a two year period. I'm suspecting that it's some sort of mental illness since she works as a substitute teacher and all. (Joke)
Cecilie hears strange noises in the house. She witnesses the unexplainable and sees people. She claims she was raped but there is no evidence to support her claims. Her husband ends up checking her into a psychiatric ward. There she meets a psychiatrist who knows a spiritual medium who can help Cecilie get in contact with the spirit world. She eventually finds out that there is a connection between the rape incident and a stream of unsolved tragic murders that happened over 30 years ago. Only Cecilie holds the key to break the murder mystery wide open and capture the killer!
This film is getting some great reviews, like "the best Danish films in years." It is instructed by Hans Fabian Wullenweber, who is inspired by psychological thrillers like "The Ring," and is produced by Nimbus Films.
