Sun, Surf, Sand and Dentists?
I recently found out that I have to have some major and immediate dental work done. By major I mean expensive, like approximately $5,000 to $8,000 worth. I decided to explore other options because sorry Charlie, I don't want to pay that much!
So a friend of a friend told me that he went to Thailand and got loads of dental work done at about 75% less than what it would have cost him to have it done here. Apparently, he is not alone because more than one million tourists flock to Thailand each year for medical treatment.
"What about the quality?" I wondered. That is not a problem, as Thailand has world class dental care in modern, state-of-the-art facilities & some of the best bang for your buck dental care on the planet. That doesn't mean you shouldn't shop around, as prices do vary.
I'm no mathematician but, a two week vacation to Thailand will cost me around $2,000 at a beachfront, all-inclusive high end hotel. I have gotten some quotes on the dental work I need done from a few recommended Thai Dentists and a 75% discount is about right. That means I'd be paying about $1,300 for the dental work. That plus the $2,000 for the trip adds up to a total adventure which will cost a total of about $3,300 buckaroos, a savings of about a $1,000. "Why not kill two birds with one stone?" I say. That said, the pleasure/pain trip is booked for May, I'll let you know how it goes.
