Denmark's Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
Day 6) I am finally back to my top 10 list. You are probably thinking that by the time she gets through it, I’ll have been to Copenhagen 10 times already! Today I’ll be taking you to the well known “Louisiana Museum of Modern Art”. Louisiana Museum is located in the town of Humlebæk, about 10km(6 miles) south of Helsingør and 35km(22 miles) north of Copenhagen.
Beautifully situated on the coast in a huge old park overlooking Øresund and the Swedish coast, Louisiana houses an exquisite collection of modern art by international artists such as Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, Calder, Dubuffet, Max Ernst, Sam Francis, Giacometti, Kiefer, Henry Moore, Pablo Picasso and Rauschenberg. Surrounding the museum, in the vast park, some lovely sculptures are placed, including works by Henry Moore and Jean Tinguely.
Every year, the Louisiana Museum shows six to eight major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, including classical masters of modern art as well as new and upcoming international artists. The museum publishes catalogues with upcoming exhibitions.
