This Friday and Saturday, September 26 & 27, a fall festival (Herbst Fest) and organic farmer's market will take place on Vienna's Freyung Platz. The Freyung Platz is a beautiful cobblestone plaza in the heart of the first district (near Stephansdom), and the fall festival gives a taste of what the spectacular Christmas markets there are like. There will be various musical performances, as well as pumpkin carving and a slew of organic produce, meats, cheeses, and other wares for sale. The market opens at 9am and lasts until 6pm. It can be easily reached via the Herrengasse U3 metro station, the Stephansdom U1 metro station, or the Schottentor/Universitaet U2 metro station. For more information about the market, visit www.biobauernmarkt-freyung.at.
