See Strauss in Vienna's Stadtpark

Strauss glows in the night.
A visit to Vienna is not complete without seeing this famed city monument honoring composer Johann Strauss. The statue is perhaps Vienna's most popular monument and is a hotspot for photos. In summer, the area in front of the statue is adorned with photogenic fresh flowers. The surrounding Stadtpark area is also a wonderful place to take a stroll. The many paved, winding paths provide for comfortable walking, and there is a variety of foliage, playground equipment, and wildlife to enjoy. The centrally located pond full of ducks and other birds is particularly nice. There are also some areas where lounging on large, plush sections of grass is permitted (a rarity in most Vienna parks). Occasionally, Stadtpark is also a venue for small city festivals, such as the Genuss Fest (Taste Festival) that takes place in May or June. To get there, take the U3 or U4 metro line to the Stadtpark station.
