Swim on Vienna's Danube Canal Aboard the Badeschiff

badeschiff_wien.jpg
The Badeschiff offers canal scenery amid a pool atmosphere.

On Vienna's Danube Canal (Donau Kanal) between Schwedenplatz and Urania,  the Badeschiff (Swimming Ship) lies waiting for sunbathers, swimmers, and soccer fans. The ship has multiple decks equipped with lounge chairs, cocktail and snack bars, and sun umbrellas for comfortable sun enjoyment. In addition, the ship's roomy 26-meter-long pool provides a unique opportunity to swim on the Danube Canal. For the 2008 season, the ship's sun decks are also outfitted with several TV screens for Euro Cup game viewing. Entry to the ship's decks for game-watching is free. Regular admission, which includes swimming privileges, is 7.50 euro. Month, Season, and Early Bird (purchased before May 15) entry tickets are also available for 50, 190, and 160 euro respectively. A 30 percent discount is offered to ING bank customers. The Badeschiff frequently hosts live music events on its main deck, especially on weekend nights, and is also a popular spot to host private parties (call to make a reservation). For more information, including a Euro Cup game schedule, visit www.badeschiff.at.
