Prime Euro Cup Viewing in Vienna's Fan Zone

fanzone_horiz.jpg
The Vienna Fan Zone is full of jumbo screens for game-watching.

When the Euro Cup soccer tournament kicked off this past weekend, Vienna's Fan Zone was the place to be. About 250,000 visitors are reported to be in the city for the Euro Cup and close to 30,000 visited the Fan Zone areas throughout opening day. In addition to the plethora of huge TV screens displaying the day's Fan Zone event schedule and the soccer games themselves, the Fan Zone offers daily activities starting at 9am and entertainment starting at 3pm. Live game coverage starts at 6pm amid a lively crowd atmosphere. The Fan Zone is open daily June 7-29, from 9am-midnight, and is primarily located around the Rathaus city hall. Admission to the Fan Zone is free and involves entering through a security checkpoint. To get there efficiently, take the U2 metro line to the Rathaus station or the U2 or U3 metro lines to the Volkstheater station. For more information in English, visit fanzone-vienna.at.
