The Mexicoplatz church can be seen from the Danube River.
Vienna's Long Night of Churches (Lange Nacht der Kirchen) takes place May 30th, this Friday afternoon and evening, throughout Vienna. The annual ecumenical project has been occurring since 2004 and offers a free look at many of Vienna's churches, cathedrals, and monasteries. It also presents a comprehensive program of free religious concerts, activities, and events. The Long Night of Churches presents an opportunity for visitors and residents to experience what Vienna churches have to offer, like stunning architecture and art, impressive musical performances, and a variety of community programs. Daytime highlights including an interactive exhibit for children and adults at the Alser Vorstadtkirche from 3pm-6:30pm, a "Praise the Lord" children's concert at the Penzingkirche from 3:30pm-6pm, and an "Invitation to the Feast" theater activity program for children ages 3-10 at the Erloeserkirche from 3pm-5pm. Evening events include a festival of lights along the Priessnitzgasse at the Floridsdorfkirche from 4:30pm-5pm, a "The Lion and the Mouse" children's musical from 5pm-6pm at the Canisiuskirche, and a concert featuring a choir, vocal ensemble and soloists at the Kaisermuehlenkirche from 5pm-6pm. Top events taking place later in the evening are a book flea market at the Neufuenfhauskirche from 5pm-midnight, a "Joseph and Maria" biblical ballet featuring the Austria Ballet Company Tokyo at the Votivkirche from 6pm-7pm, and a celebratory Vespers concert at the Barmherzige Bruederkirche (monastery) from 6pm-6:30pm.
