Ruprechtskirche: Vienna's Oldest Church

The Ruprechtskirche has the undisputed title as Vienna's oldest church. Built in the 11th century, the church was historically frequented by salt merchants who traded along the Danube River. In addition to its beautiful external architecture, aesthetic highlights of the church include two vibrant stained glass windows. One window in the choir area is comprised of medieval stained glass and depicts the crucifixion of Jesus. The other window, in juxtaposition, is very modern in appearance and shows the baptism of Christ. The church is also occasionally a venue for lovely classical music performances.
