100s of Tropical Butterflies at Vienna's Schmetterlinghaus

Colorful butterflies await at the Schmetterlinghaus.

Spring is in the air in Vienna and so are the butterflies at the Schmetterlinghaus (Butterfly House). The Schmetterlinghaus is a gorgeous Jugendstil (German version of art nouveau) greenhouse where visitors can walk freely among hundreds of exclusively tropical butterflies. The space encompasses 280 sq. meters and is located inside the Burggarten Palmenhaus of the Hofburg Palace, what was once the private royal greenhouse of Austria's emporer and empress. Inside, an abundance of uncaged butterflies fly freely among trees, waterfalls, and visitors. Entrance to the Schmetterlinghaus costs 5.5o for adults, 4.50 for students (must show ID), and 3 for children (3-16). More information can be found at http://www.schmetterlinghaus.at/english1.htm.
