Fresco Grill Serves Up the Spicy Stuff in Vienna

Try one of Fresco's monster burritos.

New within the past few months, Fresco Grill is making its spicy presence known in Vienna's 9th district. It offers a small but sensational menu of California-Mexico border food, including fat made-to-order burritos, nachos, tacos, and taco salads. The chicken burrito comes full of veggies (including jalapenos if requested), savory beans, rice, cheese, sour cream, seasoned chunks of grilled chicken, and a flavorful sauce. Most of the main dishes are a bargain at only about 5. The beverages, alcoholic drinks in particular, are also very reasonably priced. For under 5, the pina colada is fantastic. Also, recently added to the menu is a delicious homemade cross between rice pudding and flan (1.50).

The interior of Fresco is full of flamboyant color with mural-like wall paintings and gleaming stainless steel picnic tables and chairs reminiscent of a relaxed California "barrio" style. Fresco is small, but has enough space to seat a few large groups. It's best to call ahead to make a reservation if you have a large party. Call-ahead take-out is also available. Food is ordered and paid for at the grill area, as in a cafeteria. Drinks are ordered at the bar and are usually brought upstairs by the waitstaff after they are prepared. Speaking English is encouraged. Overall, Fresco Grill provides an amazing ethnic dining experience unique to Vienna. It is as its name suggests - fresh.
