Ambulanz Serves Up Local Organics in Vienna

Ambulanz's goat cheese salad showcases locally made cheese.
The Ambulanz (Ambulance) menu stands apart from the rest in its offerings. Among the first few pages, you'll find a disclaimer that states Ambulanz uses as much local organic produce and meats as possible. They also serve a few organic beers, wines, and other beverages. The quality of the ingredients is apparent in how each dish tastes. The salads are fresh, with the grilled chicken salad and goat cheese salad being particularly good for under €8. The goat cheese, which is made in a nearby suburb as a regional specialty, is creamy and full-bodied with a nice zing.
The atmosphere of Ambulanz is also very natural and pleasant. Bedecked with large windows, the restaurant receives a plentiful amount of natural sunlight. There is also a lounge area with cozy leather chairs and a large outdoor dining area. Historically, Ambulanz served as the medical emergency room for Vienna's old hospital. It is housed in the courtyard of that former hospital, now a very chic and inviting space. For more information or to make an online reservation, visit www.stiegl-ambulanz.at.
