Vienna's "Ice Dream" Offers Prime Skating at the Rathaus

The two ice rinks have a disco feel.
Wonderful winter fun in the form of ice skating can currently be found next to Vienna's Rathaus (City Hall). The annual skating event, called "Wiener Eistraum" (Vienna Ice Dream), started January 26 and will remain until March 9. The skating complex includes more than 4,000 square meters of ice surface. Two circular rinks that form the bulk of the skating area are connected by multiple ice trails that wind through the neighboring Rathaus Park.
An entry pass to the skating area starts at only €2 (Mon.-Fri. 9am-2pm). Afternoon/evening (Mon.-Fri. 2pm-11pm) and all-day weekend and school break skating costs €5.50 for adults and €4.20 for children. Discounts for families, students, groups, and the last hour of skating (after 10pm) are available. Skate rentals cost €6 for adults and €3.80 for children. There are also locker areas for shoe storage, a curling area (€30 per team), and penguin skate buddies to provide extra support for children just learning how to skate. Various food and drink vendors border the ice rinks for convenient refreshment while skating. For more information, visit www.wien.gv.at.
