Li's Cooking is Fresh & Flavorful at Vienna's Naschmarkt

The soups at Li's are fresh and filling.

Aside from serving great Asian-fusion food, Li's Cooking is known for its welcoming atmosphere. Once inside the door, the majority of Li's staff gives patrons a warm and energetic greeting. Dining guests are then promptly ushered to an open table or given a cup of complimentary hot tea to sip while they wait a couple of minutes for an available table. The service at Li's is always prompt and orderly and the feel of the dining room is hip and cozy. Diners can look out through Li's large windowed walls to observe the action in Vienna's most popular outdoor market (Naschmarkt) or the bustle of its neighboring street (the Linke Wienzeile). Once seated, patrons are served a complimentary appetizer, usually a delightfully rich tidbit involving fried shrimp.

The menu offerings at Li's combine influences from Thai, Chinese, and Japanese cooking for a sensational result. The seafood dishes are particularly delicious. The seafood soup entree, for example, contains large chunks of fresh fish and vegetables immersed in a rich curry coconut broth. The soup also comes with a side of two or three little spring rolls and another side of either miso soup or maki (diner's choice). The maki is excellent and hints of the quality of the full sushi menu. The "My Best Friend's Special" on the sushi menu is amazing. It is a stunning array of succulent, flavorful fish in the form of sushi, sashimi and maki, all served at the appropriate "not too warm, not too cold" temperature. Each meal at Li's ends with a complimentary dessert, tropical fruit bits and oversized pearls of tapioca in a small bowl of coconut milk. It is a sweet and satisfying way to end a perfect eating experience.

To get to Li's Cooking, take the U4 metro line to either Karlsplatz or Kettenbrueckengasse. The restaurant is on the Karlsplatz end of the Naschmarkt in the lane running parallel to the Naschmarkt produce vendors. For more information and tantalizing food photos, visit www.liscooking.at.
