Fine Viennese Music to Take Home at Musik Palais Havlicek

Great Austrian music on CD can be found just around the corner from Vienna's Hofburg Palace. Musik Palais Havlicek is a quaint independently run music shop carrying some of the best classical and folk music Vienna has to offer. On the Musik Palais shelves, you'll find quality recordings of some of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's (Wiener Philharmoniker) most cherished performances. If unable to decide, look for the orchestra's New Year's Concert (Silvesterconcert) featuring waltzes that are broadcast all over the world. The shop also stocks songs by the Vienna Boys' Choir, operas, and various traditional alpine yodeling groups. The prices are fair (10% rebate for Universitaet Wien students) and the owner is very knowledgeable. She'll be happy to locate things for you and to make recommendations on certain recordings.
