MUSA Offers Fun Photos for FREE

a colorful pillar leads to the MUSA
The MUSA (Museum Auf Abruf) is perhaps best described as "the best new free art museum that is not being visited." The museum houses numerous themed exhibits as well as serves as a jumping off point for the careers of young Viennese artists. Currently, the museum features a collection of photographs of Vienna taken by the now deceased photojournalist Harry Weber. The snapshots of daily Viennese life in recent years are endearing and cover subjects including the Jewish community, cemeteries, and emblems of Viennese architecture. Trying to figure out where each photo was taken adds a bit of fun to a trip through the pictures. The Weber exhibit is on display until February 16.
The museum space itself also has pleasant visual qualities. The windowed ceiling in the Weber exhibit room in particular provides a nice bridge between modern and natural. The entrance to the museum is a bit ambiguous. Open the unmarked white door directly across from the side of the Rathaus. For more information, visit www.MUSA.at.
