Pumpkin Festival Near the Vienna Forest This Weekend

pumpkins ready for carving
This Saturday and Sunday, October 27 & 28, the path between the Oktogon restaurant and the Life Tree Circle (by the Wienerwald, Vienna's national forest) will fill with pumpkin festivities from 10am to 6pm. Local farmers will offer opportunities to carve pumpkins as well as a wide array of pumpkin treats including pumpkin sauerkraut, pumpkin soup, pumpkin strudel, and pumpkin oil. Schilchersturm (seasonal alcoholic grape cider) and Schilcherwein (seasonal wine) will be available as well. In addition, the fair weather event schedule lists kite-building and an air show as festival perks.
To get there, take the U4 to Heiligenstadt and then take the 38A bus to Cobenzl Parkplatz. From there, walk toward the Oktogon Restaurant and Life Tree Circle. For more information about this 10th annual event, visit www.himmel.at.
