Wieden Bräu Serves Microbrew Beer & Austrian Meals

outside the Wieden Bräu
The Wieden Bräu is an excellent place to visit for a memorable Viennese brewery/cafe experience. Located in the neighborhood of Karlsplatz, the Wieden Bräu is convenient to reach and offers a wonderful selection of house-brewed beers and tasty Austrian food. The restaurant's atmosphere adds to its charm. Antique brass brewery equipment lies within view and rustic polished wood and other antiques dominate the decorating scheme.
At just over €13, the bread platter, which comes heaped with an assortment of cheesy grilled dark breads, is a bargain to split between a few people. The Berner Wuerstel (cheese-filled sausages wrapped in bacon) and Wiener Schnitzel (fried pork cutlet) are also good, but avoid the cole slaw; it is heavy on the mayonnaise and unspectacular. As for the beer selection, the Märzen is particularly notable. One of the brewery's best selling points is its daily happy hour from 3-5 pm, when all beer is half-price.
The brewery also hosts monthly beer seminars, including one on October 20th, from 7 am-4 pm. Each seminar costs €65 and features a day-long brewing session with Wieden Bräu's Bavarian Master Brewer. The seminars include a traditional sausage breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack and a beer tasting as well.
