Vienna's Organic Bounty at Freyung Biomarkt

Locals peruse organic goods at the Biomarkt.
Every other Friday and Saturday at the triangular plaza around the corner from Stephansdom, an organic farmer's market springs to life. On offer are edible organic delights like fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and wines from Austria and neighboring countries. Non-edible organic handmades including woven baskets, soaps, pottery, and felted wool clothing and accessories are also available.
In addition, extra handmade and seasonal items such as wooden toys, holiday decorations, holiday foods, and live entertainment fill the market about two weeks before Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. The Halloween pumpkin soup and Christmas hot mulled wine are particularly delectable.
Upcoming market days are Aug. 31 - Sept. 1, Sept. 14-15, and Sept. 28-29. Market hours are 9am-6pm. For more information and a complete schedule, visit the market website.
