Praterstern Offers Family Fun in Vienna

Praterstern ferris wheel at night
As the oldest amusement park in the world, the Praterstern inspires a feeling of youthful nostalgia among visitors. In addition to partaking in some of the more modern rides like the bungee swing, guests can enjoy a more retro feeling of fun on the flying swings, low-tech rollercoasters, or ferris wheels. Admission to the park is free and ride prices vary from €1-€10. The Wiener Riesenrad (the large ferris wheel) is a famous attraction featured in the British film "The Third Man". It can seat small groups and provides a spectacular view of the city. The food offered at the Praterstern is also a perk. Visitors can enjoy park favorites like hand-formed mini-donuts and cotton candy.
Frequently, the Praterstern is also home to many live entertainment events. For example, on this Saturday, August 25th, more than 80 classic antique cars will gather in front of the Casino Admiral Prater for an "Oldtimer Ralley". Cars will begin assembling at 1pm that day. After a few hours of amusement park excitement, treat yourself to a stroll through the surrounding Prater green space. Tree-lined walking paths and grassy public athletic fields are just outside the amusement park.
The amusement park is open from Mar. 15th - Oct. 31 and opening hours are 10am-1am, daily. To get there, take the U1 metro line to the Praterstern station. For more information about the Praterstern and upcoming entertainment events, visit www.prater.at.
