Gourmet Viennese Dining in the Sky at the Donauturm

Donauturm Restaurant
The restaurant at the top of the Donauturm (Danube Tower) serves gourmet Viennese dishes alongside the best view in the city. The dining room, located 170 meters above the ground, is completely enclosed by glass windows and revolves so guests have an opportunity to see the city from all angles. The room rotates at the speed of 1 revolution per hour, so the pace is comfortable, and signs hang from the ceiling by the window to identify what is in the line of vision from a particular table. For example, there are signs for Prater Stadium and Stephansdom.
The food is also incredible. The Zander (local river fish) was fresh and expertly cooked, and the filet of beef medallions (a special during "Steak Weeks̶
were succulent and served in a rich sauce dotted with almond hushpuppies. If you still have room for dessert at the end of the meal, try a slice of apple strudel. To secure a table, reservations are recommended. Reservations can even be made online by emailing reservierungen@donauturm.at.
The Donauturm, which opened in 1964, also houses a viewing terrace at 150 meters if you want to see Vienna from above without making a meal of it. The elevator ride from the ground level takes approximately 35 seconds and costs 5.50 euros.
