Soho-Inspired Art Festival Hits the Streets of Vienna
This weekend marks the beginning of 16 consecutive days of Soho in Ottakring arts and entertainment events in Vienna’s 16th district. Art exhibits, music, and other performances and displays will dapple the Ottakring district’s streets and parks from Friday, May 18 through Saturday, June 2.
An art exhibit titled “Bound by” opens at 7 pm in the basement of Grundsteingasse 8 to kick things off on Friday. Several events take place on Saturday, with various performance art exhibitions throughout the afternoon. At 1 pm and 4 pm, children can enjoy karaoke in Yppenpark. At 5 pm, many other attractions come to life around the Yppenplatz, including a Baduc & Arno screen-printed t-shirt display and a mobile kitchen.
The Soho in Ottakring grand opening at 7 pm (also at Yppenplatz) on Saturday ushers in numerous art and music presentations that take place until midnight. A “You Can Feminism!” screening at Café AN-DO on the Yppenmarkt at 7 pm, a hair stylist presentation at Grundsteingasse 14 at 8 pm, and a Yu Rock Mission party and audio-visual presentation at Thaliastrasse 2 (lower level) at 10 pm sound particularly interesting. Similar activities continue on Sunday, with the addition of two exercise highlights in Yppenpark, a Hatha Yoga session for all ages at 11 am and Kung Fu at 6 pm.
