Le Reservoir: Interesting Food and Home Brew

I'm a big fan of Brew-pubs, but this place somehow stayed under my radar for a long time. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when a couple of friends dragged me out to Le Reservoir the other night.

This place has a nice selection of beer (I particularly liked their India Pale Ale) and a unique food menu. It's a great part of town, just off the Main, and a ...

Watching all the Pretty People

Ahhh, Saturday Night in Montreal ...

What better to do than go people watching? Thursday's is a bar/club on the "strip" in downtown Montreal. This strip is the gaggle of nightclubs on Crescent St. between Rene-Levesque and Sherbrooke. There is everything here from Irish Pub's to Mexicain Restaurants to "pick-up joints". Thursday's probably falls into the latter category.

I dropped by to see what all the fuss was ...

Coolness Personified

If you were to imagine the atmosphere of a place called 'Kafein' based solely on it's name, the mental picture you paint would probably not be so far off from the reality of the so-named lounge here in Montreal. Kafein [1429A rue Bishop] combines mood lighting, comfy couches, creative cocktails, eclectic music and a wide range of shisha flavours to secure its place as one of the hippest places ...

Making Your Way In The World Today...

Bars, in my opinion, should be the antithesis to everyday city life. Just like Cheers, they should be the sort of places where "everybody knows your name." An intimate, cozy setting, with friendly people, alcohol, tunes, and a nearby bathroom - an atmosphere which should be in stark contrast to that of a club. A lot of bars I've been to in Montreal seem to see no difference between bars ...

Rich People Need To Eat Too

"Rich people are weird," a friend of mine recently mused, "they eat things that clearly taste awful just so that they aren't eating the beef and chicken the common man does all the time." Perhaps if you've been successful in life, you look for ways to distinguish yourself from the six-pack masses in more ways then the fancy car and the big house - perhaps you'd even eat things most ...

Jack of all trades, and Master of One

LaBoom is to nightclub what a double Big Mac is to burger. It's the art of concept pulled to the extreme. The sneering contempt for settling - "Why decide on a theme?" the club architects might have said - "lets just do a bunch of them, and really make one of them special!"

And so they did. Club LaBoom (1254 rue Stanley) offers four distinct rooms, each boasting its own ...

One Two Three Four and Away We Go

1234 - rather mundane and familiar numbers, but, I assure you, the club bearing the same name is anything but mundane. Nestled rather cleverly at 1234 de la Montagne, the club screams disco-chic from the moment you step inside (if you get by the bouncers that is) - with a huge main dance floor complete with all sorts of light effects and a DJ up high keeping things house and ...

Hockey and Pub Food: La Cabane

La Cabane
3872 ST LAURENT, MONTRÉAL, QC, Canada - (514) 843-7283

So, it's over, and I'm done crying about the loss, but it was a good night out!

Montreal hockey fans are in a sorry state after a 6-5 loss to the dreaded Toronto Maple Leafs. As promised (please see link below), I went out to see the game on the Main to get a feel for hockey and pub food action ...

Hockey and Pub Food: La Cage aux Sports

Hello Sports Fans! (And those of you who are just fans of Sports Bars)

Well, well, well, it IS an interesting time of year for hockey fans, no? We're in to the last weekend and the Eastern Conference is more goofed up than Barry Bonds' blood stream.

Tuesday night, The Boston Bruins were in town and I dropped by La Cage aux Sports in the Bell Centre to catch the ...
