Chic Mexican Chill Time

Mesa 14 is a Mexican restaurant located in the trendy Bishop/Crescent bar area of downtown Montreal. It's also quite close to the Bell Centre (i.e. Montreal Canadiens and big-ticket concerts) and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

This is a cool place and they DON'T play that cheesy mariachi music like many other Mexican restos. That to me is a huge plus right off the bat! The atmosphere is trendy: we sat in the bar area on modern sofa-type things. The service is freindly and reasonably fast. We were there for lunch, so everything was pretty relaxed (i.e. not crowded), so kicking back and enjoying a margharita was very nice.

The food is great. I had guacamole as a starter and a bowl of chili as my main dish. My friend had the cheese and bacon quesadilla. Everything was fantastic.

It's certainly not cheap, but not over priced given the neighbourhood.

I'd recommend making reservations if it's a hockey game night (or a big concert) to make sure you make your event on time.
