Montreal's Best Souvlaki Vol IV: Villa du Souvlaki

I've been negliecting my souvlaki reviews for a while, so I thought I'd stop by an old favourite of mine, Villa du Souvlaki on Sherbrooke St. in NDG. This is one of the few souvlaki joints in town that isn't a chain and it regularly makes the Mirror's Top 5 list. The place offers typical greek/souvlaki menu, no alcohol, and a friendly family-type service.

Meat: Very nice texture and flavour. This one doesn't have that home-grilled taste that some do, so slightly disapointing in that light, but a very nice chunk of meat just the same.

Tsatziki Sauce: Nice creamy texture with a hint of .... hmmm, I'm going to guess oregano but I'm not very good at blind-identifying spices. Still a unique sauce that has a conservative garlic kick and excellent texture.

Extras: I dropped the ball here and was in a hurry. I didn't take any extras. Everything LOOKED good though!

I highly recommend this souvlaki, but I am a bit biased. This has been my favourite neighbourhood joint for several years. I also am partial to places that are not chains.

Although ur last update was two years ago, I take it you're still eating souvlakis. Because I am a big fan, I suggest Corvette, if u havent already gone, their sauce is amazing. By the way, in regards to Kojax (their mild sauce is delicious, there tzatziki is bland) and in regards to Aarahova (way too much lettuce and stuffing, you don't taste the meat nor the sauce, but very good fried zucchinis). Going to try Villa though!

Later, Sab
