When I first moved to Montreal, I remember gazing at the skyline at night from a distance away on the highway. There were four strong spotlights sweeping across the sky in four directions from on top of the tallest I could see. I thought it was amazing. I soon found out that those spotlights were directly above of Altitude 737, known to Montrealers as one of the swankiest clubs here in Montreal.
If Thursday's is where the rich go to eat, 737 is where they go to club. Nestled on top of the highest building here in Montreal, with huge plate glass windows that allow you to see the sparkling city below, the club is a curious mix of the the elegant sophistication money buys with the raunch some Montreal clubs are famous for. You need to be wearing dress pants to get in - but once you're in, you may hear the grimiest dirty-south rap music you can fathom.
There's a hefty cover fee, and drinks aren't the cheapest in town, but then again, you didn't expect a place like this to be cheap did you? Wear your best clothes, shiny black shoes, and do your hair - 737 is a blast, if you have the money. Try to come in the summer though - given the location of the club on top of the world, the line to get in is at the bottom, outside, and you definitely don't want to bear that wait in the middle of a Canadian winter.
