Montreal's Best Souvlaki: Vol. II Arahova
Ohhh, NOW we're talking!
After an "OK" start at Kojax, I went to Montreal's next most prolific souvlaki chain called Arahova. This is a whole different "kettle of fish" (as we say back home!). A stand-alnoe restaurant, as opposed to a food-court stand and a much higher level of souvlaki enjoyment.
(psst - you can read the kojax review here)
Meat: tender and sizzling! This is just like it would be hot off the grill at home...well, if I was in the habit of grilling my own souvlaki (if, in fact it's grilled at all)
Pita Bread: excellent!! Good texture (almost fluffy), not greasy.
Tsatziki Sauce: VERY tasty - a good garlic and (I think) dill flavour in a thick creamy sauce.
Extras: It was hot and sticky out so I went for a smoothie instead of fries. Quite a leap I know, but the smoothies here are pretty good considering it's a souvlaki restaurant and not a smoothie joint. A little on the sweet side, but otherwise good.
In short, a much better souvlaki than at Kojax. I'd recommend this for sure.
FYI, I was at the new Queen Mary location.
Theo OUT.
