Tam-Tams of Mont-Royal
Starting early May, there is a summer long gathering at the foot of Mount-Royal which attracts thousands each year. Musicians gather in groups to beat on their drums in an event that promotes freedom of artistic expression, mostly in form of music, dance and unique merchandise. The event always takes place on Sundays from noon to early evening.
Mount-Royal park and adjacent Jeanne-Mance park are filled with hundreds of locals and visitors basking in the sunlight as they hear the beat of music hum. Due to recent rise in popularity, art vendors now neatly display their items, aligned along Parc Avenue for anyone looking for jewerly, artwork, pots, and paintings.
This is by no means a Burning Man event but rather a friendly gathering of bohemian-like people enjoying the summer, celebrating life, and a love for art in all its forms. The Montreal Tam-Tams of Mount-Royal lasts from May 6th to September 30th.
Nearest accessible metro: Mont-Royal.
