Restaurant Pho Viet
Hankering for something a little off the beaten path? Walking into Pho Viet is like walking into a friend's living room, sparkling smiles and laughter, corner tables full of familiar faces, and a friendly welcome as you weave your way to your table.Something about the ambiance invites a relaxed feeling, and the servers flitting around don't break this bubble of "chill". When we were finally served, it was without any rush or hesitation and it fit nicely with the laid back sense that everyone in the joint seemed to possess.
The menu has the standard Vietnamese fare: lots of grilled beef, lemon grass, spring rolls with sesame sauce. We had the grilled lemon grass chicken with a salad ($9) and a big steaming bowl of beef noodles positively laden with flavor ($7). There is a large selection of noodles, salads, vegetable, and meat dishes, accompanying sauces of every ilk tagging along.
Not a "high-class" place by any means, but we were impressed: it was clean, relatively inexpensive, and laid-back. We'd go back for casual place to hang out and munch anytime, but not the place to bring out of town guests wanting to be impressed.
