My View of Montreal

Welcome to my first blog post. Not first blog post ever, but first on this wonderful, wonderful website, hotelsbycity.com (My employers told me that if I don't plug them frequently, they would have me blacklisted from the blogosphere. I believe their exact words were, 'you'll never blog in this domain again', or something to that effect).

This blog is about all things Montreal. For those of you that don't know, Montreal is in Quebec, Quebec is in Canada, Canada is in North America, North America is on Earth, Earth is in the solar system, the solar system is in the Milky Way, the Milky way is in the Universe, and the Universe just is.

Now that we've positioned ourselves, let's get down to business. I should start off by revealing a little of my personal history with this unique city. Born in Toronto, I quite suddenly and unexpectedly moved to Montreal in the fall of 2002 to attend McGill University. I went gaga right away for the pretty architecture, the pretty streets, the pretty girls. Since graduating university last year, I've remained in the city as a simple civilian, rather than as a student (they're different, trust me). I stayed here partly because I loved the city too much to leave, and partly because I wasn't sure where else to go. I developed a lifestyle here that was dear to my heart. It's a lifestyle of ease, of exploration, of familiarity, and yet one of discovery. Because even though, I feel like I know this like one knows their first cousin, there is always something new to discover here. I think people that have spent their entire lives here are still finding new things they love about this city, things that have been hiding around the corner the whole time.

So with this blog I aim to share with you things in this city that I love, some that I have discovered years ago, and others that are brand new to me, in hopes that one day you too can share in the joy that is Montreal.
