55 mill Street is my favorite part of Toronto. It has been restored in the past 5 years to resemble what it may have been 100 years ago. No cars and lots of nice little bars. Art galleries and the Younge Center for the arts. A perfect place to spend the afternoon with the family. Walk the streets and look at the architecture. Dip ...

Looking for something to do tonight? Check out the Rivoli for Bump n' Hustle's 11th anniversary event. Since 1996, Hotstepper Productions and DJs Paul E Lopes and Mike Tull have presented this live soul music showcase. Bump n' Hustle is wildly successful and is unquestionably one of the most popular soul music events in the city.
The back room of the Rivoli is home to Bump n' Hustle every second Saturday ...

Avoid long line ups at the Paramount. Located east of Yonge, Carlton Cinema, is a small theatre. Known for showing inspired programming including movies in limited release, subtitled or indie gems, it's not simply a hideaway for critically acclaimed or small budget films, the theatre also shows blockbusters like Babel and Borat.
The lobby has a beautiful cafe, but if there's time before the show, stop by the Second ...

I didn't get to take advantage of the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. I had moved to the city just weeks before, didn't have a ten-ticket or greater pass, and had not realized the enormity of the event until the top shows were sold out. Over the entire event I got to see one film - Tony Goldwyn & Paul Haggis' The Last Kiss - although attempts to ...

Its among the most convenient downtown spots on a Sunday for an impromtu pint and a little liquid courage. If you conquer stage fright to sing your heart out, the rules are simple. Pick your tune either by artist or by title and pass it to the emcee, Carson Foster (he's the dude in the leather pants). If it's your first time, you are guaranteed your five minutes in the spotlight. "Kick Ass Karaoke" virgins are encouraged, and ...

Move over hockey, basketball and Lacrosse. There is a new team in town that is already building a buzz and giving travellers another reason to come and visit our city. In 2005, The Major Soccer League(MLS) a new team north of border. Slick modern decor mixed with funky house music has a big presence in downtown Toronto, but that doesn't mean you have to like it.
You don't have to stray from the subway line to find a great pub or small bar that recreates the 'Cheers' atmosphere and makes you feel right at home.
The streets of High Park and Bloor West Village are lined with such neighbourly establishments.
Mackenzies Bar & Grill (...
